Wood 'N' Waves Weekend Wood 'N' Waves Weekend

Wood 'N' Waves Weekend

The 9th and 10th of May 2026 marked the first edition of Rwts Wood 'N' Waves event.

When we were originally cooking up concepts for what Rwts was going to be, the idea of having a skate ramp in the garden was one of the first to be thrown around.

We attempted to run the event last September but in typical Pembrokeshire fashion, the weather never lined up, and so the idea got parked for a number of months until it came up in conversation again and the momentum built.

Everyone felt the same, this is what Broad Haven needs! Crikey, this is what Pembrokeshire needs!

So many people in the area love to get in for a surf, or rally the crew for a skate, and countless people are just looking for a good time with friends.

But events in the local area and certainly in this vein seem hard to come by.

So we thought we would try and change that...

And in all honesty, it was that simple. We decided it needed to happen and enough people agreed with us, so we started plotting. Bringing in the experts to make sure we didn't miss anything.

Unfortunately we couldn’t run the surf side of things this year, as the surf never showed, but we knew we were being somewhat ambitious in planning an event that required sun, light wind AND surf!

We are just stoked we got the first two!

The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Which has filled us with the pride and confidence to do it again! More than once I was told this had been the best weekend ever!

It was so lush to feel the energy in Broad Haven, and to see crew from all over Pembs and beyond come and get amongst it. A great time to catch up with some great entertainment.

To see kids being kids, as they should be, running around with their pals, trying new lines on the ramp, falling over and supporting each other while Mums scrambled for ice packs, just to return to see their kid dropping in again being cheered on by their mates. It's how I remember growing up, and was so cool to see!

To be able to create a space for local artists to come and share their music is something that is extremely important to us and that weaved into the weekend beautifully, adding to the vibe and feel of the event.

At Rwts we are now officially one year old and it feels like we are just getting started.

This is without a doubt something we will be building on and hoping to improve and watch grow over the years and we hope that you will be there to join the Hwyl!
Keep your eyes peeled for more events to add to the calendar. We will mos
t definitely planning another Wood 'N' Waves event, so watch this space!
